How to overcome the problem of overthinking?

Today, I find myself writing about overthinking because, honestly, it’s something I’m dealing with right now. By putting my thoughts into words, I hope to work through this issue—not just for me, but for you as well. So, what’s the problem? Well, I’m the kind of guy who’s naturally shy, and I struggle with “how to be myself in front of girls.” Yesterday, a situation happened that really got me thinking. I had the chance to talk to a girl who was actually trying to start a conversation with me, but instead of talking, I froze and overthought everything.

Why? I realized it’s because of a mentality I’ve developed since my teenage years, which stems from the environment I grew up in. Back in school, the idea was drilled into us that boys and girls can’t just be friends—they can only be in a relationship. This belief has stuck with me, and now, whenever I interact with a girl, I overthink the situation and avoid talking. It’s like I’m trapped in this outdated mindset, and I want to break free.

Writing about this today is my way of getting to the solution. I’m going to figure out three key problems related to overthinking, and hopefully, by sharing my thoughts and life experiences, you’ll find solutions to your own overthinking as well. We’re on this journey of growth together.

Before you dive into my solutions, take a moment to reflect. Think about your own overthinking patterns and what solutions you might come up with. Write down your ideas. After all, our thoughts might be more similar than you realize, and we’re both just trying to grow.

OVERTHINKING CAN BE HELPFUL OR HEADACHE AT THE BOTH TIMES BUT IT DEPEND ON A PERSON HOW HE DEALS WITH IT!!

Let’s get to the solutions!!

WHY DO WE OVERTHINK?

So, if we come to the problem “Why do we overthink?”, there can be many reasons: stress, anxiety, uncertainty, or the need for perfectionism. Now, I’m the kind of person who always wants perfection in everything, and I constantly strive to be perfect in everything I do.

What about you guys? Tell me in the comments if you are really reading and relating to this.

Now, if I think about it, I am stressful about my life too. But on the other hand, I manage stress with meditation and workouts.

Here’s the real issue: a person doesn’t want to change when things are going a certain way. But if things aren’t in your control, you need to think about why you’re overthinking. My problem was that I didn’t want to change my lifestyle because I believed it might harm my healthy life.

So, here’s the first point: If you didn’t get it, read it again and come to the conclusion for yourself.

OVERTHINK FOR POSITIVE CHANGES

Another problem I thought of in the last 20 minutes is that we often overthink in a negative way. Overthinking itself isn’t inherently a problem if it leads to positive changes in your life. However, constantly seeking out the negative can become an issue.

For example, if I had talked to that girl, I might have socialized in a new way that I’ve never experienced before. Or consider overthinking about your career; it could lead you to brainstorm what startups you could launch with your friends.

If any of these points resonate with you, it’s crucial to recognize that overthinking doesn’t always have to be negative or detrimental to your life. Instead, try to be normal about it and consider how these thoughts can actually help you grow and improve yourself.

LETTING GO THINGS TO DISTRACT OURSELF FOR OVERTHINKING

The third and final point is to let go of the mistakes we’ve made in the past and focus on the present. This shift can help us stop unnecessary thoughts that can’t change our current situation.

For example, thoughts like, “I should have done this” or “If I had done that, my situation could be different,” only serve to destroy our peace of mind. It’s important to remember that a person cannot change the past for a better future or present. Unless someone invents a time machine, we must commit to a growth mindset.

So, just accept what happened. Focus on working on today and this moment for a better future.

CONCLUSION

We can actually find solutions through overthinking itself. This proves that overthinking can be useful for positive changes. But if we constantly overthink in a negative way, it won’t help us at all.

I’m writing this to let go of this feeling once and for all and focus on my personal growth. I still have to figure out what I’ll do in the future, just like everyone else.
